Rowan Harbor has had a tough winter, and Devon Murphy wants nothing more than to make it better. When he proposes a solution to the town’s low morale, it creates a rift in his relationship with his boyfriend, Wade. They’ve hardly ever argued, and when things get tense, Devon has no idea how to handle it.
But an evil presence in his town targets the people Devon loves, he has to put his personal worries aside and face danger down again. Will he be able to protect his town, and if he can, will Wade be waiting for him when it’s done?

Stephanie This Series just gets better and better. Aside from Oak being one of my all time favorite characters (they make me SOOO happaaayyy), Wade is steadily rising the ranks, he is such a strong presence beside Devon and his flighty ways. I felt so bad for him in this story though. Devon was careless with his words, and it took him a visit from his selfish mother to see the error of his ways. This story also upset me the most, between what happens between Devon and Wade and when Gran returns, her magnanimous rants completely shred Devon's confidence in his abilities as a fae and protecting the town. Thankfully he has Wade and a great group of friends who support him and stand up for him. Devon is also growing into his magical abilities, learning new and impressive things he can do (which leaves Gran chagrined to say the least). One now being seeing ghost of his ex-stepfather, which I thought was kind of hilarious. His stepfather, not that he can see his ghost. Burt's "real" self is quite charming and I really hope he gets some sort of story and/or HEA. I won't say we get a happy ending, because it's not the end, but it was VERY happy. We'll continue on next with Jesse and Sean in Salmon and the Hazel for their journey to find some missing components they need from the fae realm to protect their precious Harbor :) I also recommend reading Isla's story before reading Eagle in the Hawthorn. It's a short story on how she finds her magic and her place. In Any Light 4.5* |
Sam wrote her first fantasy epic with her best friend when she was ten. Like almost any epic fiction written by a ten year old, it was awful. She likes to think she’s improved since then, if only because she has better handwriting now.
If she’s not writing, she’s almost certainly either reading or lost down a Wikipedia rabbit hole while pretending to research for a novel.
