COVER REVEAL ~ Touches by Alina Popescu

Cover Reveal – Touches by Alina Popescu

Touches is a collection of four contemporary gay romance short stories following the same cast of characters. They can be read in any order, but to better immerse yourself in the characters' lives, reading them in order is advised.

Synopsis
Sometimes a single touch is enough to change everything. Physical or emotional, a touch can tilt the world on its axis and shift your entire life. It can lead to hell, or it can lead to paradise, but things will never be the same…

A TOUCH GLAMOUR
Tudor has big plans for New York City.
Ditch his homophobic colleague. See a musical. Definitely check out the go-go boys.
Meeting one Phantom on Grindr wasn't in the script.
Tudor gets caught up in a whirlwind when his favorite musical character steps off the stage and into his life.

A TOUCH OF PARADISE
Hauled to work in Hawaii, Tudor has little time to enjoy the island paradise.
His obnoxious friend Radu has it much easier, using his free time to set Tudor up, dangling a willing Hawaiian beauty in front of him.
Having been burned by long-distance relationships before, Tudor stubbornly resists Kahoni’s advances.
But can Tudor be worn down enough to enjoy a touch of paradise?

A TOUCH OF KINK
A moody and angry Tudor follows his friend, Radu, to the airport to pick up a client.
Despite Radu’s efforts, he’s still sulking over his boyfriend, Kahoni, not being able to fly over for his birthday.
But the airport only opens up the door to a stream of steamy surprises for Tudor. Will his mood improve?

A TOUCH OF GAY
Radu has always joked with Tudor about his friend’s gay rubbing off on him. Neither of them has taken that joke seriously until Radu’s meltdown and crazy confession: Radu thinks he might be gay.
Despite Radu’s insistence that Tudor’s gayness has helped him figure out his own, there’s more to that story of discovery. Charismatic, sexy, and all around amazing Marius, the man Radu has been crushing on for months, pushed the loud-mouth, offensive Radu into exploring who he truly is.
Figuring out he wasn’t all that straight is the easy part. Getting enough courage to talk to Marius, that’s a whole different challenge, as Radu seems to turn into a stuttering idiot around Marius. Will Radu learn to be confident enough to pursue Marius? Or will Marius act faster and challenge the confused Radu too soon?

Excerpt

With a noncommittal grunt, Tudor turned around and walked toward the door. Radu could follow or not, he didn’t much care. He went straight to the reception area and asked if there was a place to eat nearby. They were exactly five minutes from Times Square, so he expected fancy, expensive, and not necessarily the best food ever. The guy at reception was their first guardian angel in this city and told them about a nice little diner down the street from the hotel. Tudor moaned his approval and saw the teen swoon a little. He thanked him with an unnecessarily wide grin, just to make him feel good about himself and headed through the door.

“So we’re eating greasy diner food?”

“Radu, most of your lunches at work are either KFC or McDonalds. Don’t tell me you’re suddenly worried about your health and what goes into your mouth.”
“Well, no, but I’d expected you to be… you know?”

“Be what?” Tudor said, stopping in his tracks and shoving his hands into his jeans’ pockets.
“You know!” Radu insisted, a sleazy grin twisting his face. “All about health and your looks.”
Tudor chuckled and shrugged, then continued toward the diner he could now see. He licked his lips in anticipation—diner food was one of his many, many very guilty pleasures—feeling a tingle of delight in his gut. On his last trip to the US, he’d eaten every meal of every day in a diner, until he was so sick of the stuff that he needed a break. A short one, half a day, to be exact, and then he’d started it all over again until he went back home.

“No, seriously. I did not expect you to eat anything that was not healthy and tasteless,” Radu whined as they were shown to a booth in the rather large diner.

“That’s because you have misconceptions about a lot of things,” Tudor hissed through his teeth. “Healthy food does not mean tasteless. It just means healthy. And while I do work out a lot and generally take care of myself, I pretty much eat anything. I just don’t indulge often in all the crap you gulp down every day.”

“Is that because the boys wouldn’t want you anymore?” Radu asked, grinning wolfishly, as if he’d finally gotten an official come-out speech. For a second, Tudor worried if they had some sort of betting game at work, something like how many days it would take for him to either come out or kill Radu. Then he realized they surely did, most likely on both counts.

“Well, I do enjoy being attractive, it makes it easier to get whoever I want into my bed. That’s not the only reason why I prefer healthy food though. I’d been on the school’s volleyball team throughout high school and have been taking karate lessons since secondary school. I just got used to eating like that.”

“So you’re a black belt and can kill me with your fork or something?”

“I don’t need any weapon to kill you, Radu,” Tudor said, lowering his voice and smiling sweetly at him. He was delighted to see Radu’s eyes pop out and his breath hitching. Yeah, fucker, you should be afraid.

New Release ~ Fair Catch by Carman Leigh

Two men.

One night of passion.

They never expected to see each other again.

They were wrong.

Tobias Bennett is a quiet and unassuming man who teaches yoga and enjoys parkour. Though he is proud to be gay, an abusive relationship with a domineering man has left Tobias wary of romance, and he keeps to himself in his tidy Los Angeles apartment.

Pro football player Sullivan Archer is Tobias’s complete opposite: loud, brash, fond of the spotlight… and deep in the closet. When a hamstring injury sends Van to Tobias as part of his therapy, neither of them is expecting to come face-to-face with his one-night stand. Now they’re stuck together throughout Van’s healing process, and the close proximity will force them to deal with some hard truths. For Tobias, it’s realizing his hookup is a celebrity. For Van, it means accepting that he likes Tobias more than he wanted. They’ll both have to acknowledge that if they choose to pursue a relationship, their lives will change in big ways.

*The Players of LA Series are standalones, but characters from each book to appear in subsequent novels. It is recommended to read in order to maximize the reading experience*

Prologue
Do you believe in love at first sight? No? Thank fuck. Neither do I.
—Sullivan Archer, wide receiver for the LA Wild Cats

Van and Toby meet

Toby

I turn to leave the narrow hall and at the exact same time, the door marked “office” flies open and a handsome man steps out. He’s bigger than me, tall and burly, with auburn hair and a ginger beard. The black T-shirt pulling tight across his impressive chest displays the bar’s provocative logo.
“Excuse me.” I drop my gaze and try to make myself as small as possible as I move to duck around him.
“Wait.” The big man grabs my wrist, and my heart leaps into my throat.
Oh God. He sees my hard-on.
My adrenal gland kicks into high gear, flooding my veins with anxiety and embarrassment. Heart pounding, I spin around and yank out of the man’s hold as I attempt to control the tightness in my chest. The guy holds up his hands to show he isn’t trying to pull any shit with me. “Sorry, buddy. Didn’t mean to startle you. I was just wondering if I could talk to you for a second in the office.” He nods toward the door.
With a huff, I cross my arms over my chest, then uncross them and scratch my head, unsure what to do with my hands. “Why on earth would I go in there with you? I don’t know you.” Plus, I might be athletic and in good shape, but I’m the opposite of huge. This guy has a half a foot and at least forty pounds on me.
The man grins, his navy-blue eyes sparkling. He holds out a one of his giant mitts. “Griff Freeman. I own this club.”
I eye his hand warily, but end up shaking it despite the overwhelming urge to flee. “Toby Bennett.” We drop hands, and because I’m an idiot, I can’t help but explain myself. “I haven’t done anything wrong.” He’s not bringing me into the office to kick me out because I overheard sex in the bathroom, is he? They don’t do that, do they?
Griff laughs. “No. You haven’t. But what I want to discuss is a sensitive matter. You’d be doing me a huge favor if you’d just duck into my office for a quick second.”
Sensitive? Now I’m on high alert, my muscles drawing as tight as a bow. I take a step back.
“A favor? What kind of favor?”
“Trust me, kid. You’ll probably end up thanking me,” Griff says, grinning.
Griff holds open the office door and awaits my decision.
It feels like this is a crossroads of sorts in my life. I can continue hiding, letting my past run my life, or I can take a chance and throw caution to the wind. What the hell do I have to lose? For the first time in my life, I don’t overthink my decision. Instead, I walk through that damn door with my head held high….
And my jaw drops open when I look around inside.

Van
From my position across the room, I take in the lean, attractive man who walks through the door. Griff did well. Very, very well. He brought me the exact one I wanted. The one I pointed out near the bar. This guy is exactly my type.
If I had to guess, from the wary look in his eyes, I’d say the young man is about my age though he looks significantly younger due to his small frame and full lips. He’s several inches under six feet, but well toned without being overly huge. His dark, almost black hair flops down over his brows, and his skin is pale and smooth, without a single blemish or spot on it. But what really draws me in, what I couldn’t see in the camera feed in the dark club, are crystal blue eyes so light they remind me of the massive glaciers in Alaska. Only this man’s eyes aren’t icy and cold, they’re warm and inviting and… very frightened?
“I’ll leave you two to talk,” Griff says from behind the beautiful man.
“What?” The blue-eyed beauty spins around, gaping as Griff takes off. Once the door shuts, he slowly turns back to me, his face a mask of worry and suspicion. Damn, it wasn’t my intention to freak the guy out.
“Have a seat.” I point at the black leather and chrome chair next to mine, both placed opposite Griff’s incredibly tidy desk—the neat freak—and throw him a wink. The man doesn’t move. In fact, he looks as if he’s about to bolt. I can’t have that. I’m too intrigued to let this one go without at least getting him to talk to me.
I stand up and his eyes nearly bug out of his head. Okay, so I’m big. Really big. Six-foot-six, two hundred and ten pounds—I know I can be intimidating under certain circumstances, and it serves me well. Except right now I’m trying to be a regular guy. Unfortunately, the much smaller man Griff brought in isn’t exactly receptive to whatever vibes I’m putting out.
I don’t understand why this guy is so skittish. Most people are either shocked speechless when they meet me or gush a never-ending line of embarrassing praise.
Is it possible he doesn’t recognize me?
Nope. No way. Everyone in LA recognizes me. Hell, everyone everywhere recognizes me. Which is precisely my problem. More so since the team won the playoffs last week, giving the Wild Cats their first Super Bowl appearance in eighteen years.
“I-I should go,” my guest stammers. “I think there’s been a mistake.” His voice is as beautiful as the man himself, breathy and soft, but clearly masculine.
If he won’t come to me, I’ll go to him. I walk across the room and as I get nearer, he flattens his body against the door. His skin is so flawless and pale, I can see his pulse fluttering at his throat. From this close, it’s apparent the man is quite a bit shorter than I originally thought. Maybe almost a foot less than my own six-foot-six. Griff knows I like my men small and fit, but this one… there are no words. He’s positively breathtaking.
“What’s your name, gorgeous?” I should wait for permission, wait to see if he’s receptive to my advances, but I can’t help myself. I reach out and skim the back of my knuckles across the perfect skin of his throat, stopping to feel the beat of his heart beneath my fingertips before removing my hand.
“I-I’m Toby.”
“Toby. You’re….” I struggle to come up with the proper words to describe his beauty only to find I’m speechless. I move closer and hear Toby’s breath hitch. “Hey, I’m Van.”
Toby blinks those big blue eyes, showing off the thick black lashes that frame them. I rake my gaze down Toby’s perfect, lithe body and spot the substantial bulge in his so-tight-they-should-be-illegal jeans. It seems Toby isn’t exactly as averse to hooking up with me as he wants me to believe. Or maybe he’s turned on by the thrill of the unknown. Taking another chance, I close the distance and press my hips against his, letting Toby feel how turned on I am. Our erections grind together, and Toby groans. His eyelids grow heavy and flutter shut.
“Why me?” Toby asks, his voice raspy with lust. “You’re….” He opens his eyes and motions at my body as if that one gesture says it all. “Why not go out in the club and take your pick?”
I’m shocked. Toby really doesn’t recognize me. Doesn’t know why I can’t waltz out to the middle of the dance floor in a gay bar and pick up a man. My brows scrunch together, and I put my hands on either side of his perfect face, skimming my thumbs across the smooth skin. “I did take my pick, Toby. I chose you.”
Toby blushes and gasps, parting those perfect, red lips. Unable to wait a second longer, I lower my head and take my first taste of this gorgeous specimen. Sweet alcohol and something purely Toby bursts across my tongue. I sigh as he melts against me. Fucking perfect. Toby is definitely going to be one to remember.

What happens when a one night stand, shows up on your work wanting more than just that one night?

This book wasn’t what I was expecting at all. I loved the relationship between Van and Tobias, but there were moments where I wanted to smack both of them upside the head. But, I can see both of their point of views for being standoffish when committing to one another.

Tobias had it rough, really only having one relationship and look how that turned out. Van being a professional footballer, coming out as gay I can only assume is a player’s worse nightmare for fear of not knowing how people will react. I love the fact that Van persistence paid off in the end. Two people who have had it rough definitely deserve a happily ever after.

I will say that what kind of makes the book is Leo, who is Toby’s best friend. I love how supportive he is of Toby and trying to get Toby out of the house and to try and break him out of his shell. As well as when he tried to help out Van and Toby. For me the story wasn’t long enough and I would have loved to of been able to know more of what happened after the big reveal.

Virtual Blog TOur, Guest Post & Giveaway ~ Sons of Devils by Alex Beecroft

About Sons of Devils

British scholar Frank Carew is in Wallachia to study the magic generator on nobleman Radu Vacarescu’s land. There, his party is attacked by bandits and his friends are killed. Pursued by a vampiric figure, he flees to Radu’s castle for help.

Unfortunately, this is precisely where the vampires came from. If allowed, they would feed unchecked and spread their undeath across the whole Earth, but Radu maintains a shaky control over them and keeps them penned in his tiny corner of the country.

As Frank recovers from his assault, Radu finds himself falling for the young man. But loving Frank and not wanting to lose him leaves Radu vulnerable to his demons’ demands. Can he bear to let them feed on the man he loves? Or must he give in to their blackmail and set them free to feast on his entire country?

Guest Post from Alex Beecroft
I really like the idea of steampunk – of recasting some of those amazing Victorian era stories with a more advanced technology, but a technology with an aesthetic appropriate to the time. I can definitely see the appeal of getting together an adventuring party of an English gentleman thief, an American cowboy, a Japanese samurai and an elderly French pirate. (If this sounds oddly specific, it’s because it comes from this Tumblr post.) And then putting them together on a steam-powered dirigible and setting them off to fight crime.

The major trouble with this, for me, is that I don’t really like the Victorians. That’s a swingeing condemnation. I’m sorry! But it’s true – I have a prejudice against the Victorians in a similar way to the prejudice I have against the Tudors. Somewhere in the back of my head I have the Tudors marked down as a bunch of torturers and the Victorians pigeonholed as uptight Imperialists.

So the genesis of Sons of Devils and Angels of Istanbul came when I wondered if you could do steampunk in the 18th Century. I’m not claiming the 18th Century was somehow morally superior – just that I like it better.

Getting the appropriate level of technology into an era that would have to be called Sailpunk was never going to be easy. So I decided to revive magic instead, and to treat magic as if it was a natural force that the people of the 18th Century were only just beginning to study and learn to control.

But if magic had been around from the beginning of history, continually and reliably being used, (a) history would have been a lot different and (b) people would already know at least the basics of how to control it. I needed a way to justify having it as a recent and unknown phenomenon – and that’s how the Arising came about. If the Atlanteans had found a way to harness magic and built an infrastructure to support it in ancient times, then it would have stopped working when Atlantis was drowned – and it would have started working again when Atlantis returned.

That allowed me to have a setting where history had been the same as our own until very recently. Where people had only just started to notice their magical talents and were still trying to work out how to use them. It left me at the very beginning of a magical revolution, where scholars in every country were suddenly scrambling to understand the underlying principles of the magical arts, but where very soon people would begin inventing magical forms of transport and combat.

I don’t know about you, but I was quite excited about Sultan Mahmud’s idea of using large, robust flying carpets as aerial gun platforms. Any country that was the first to develop magical air power would have a heck of a tactical advantage.

Of course, a sudden flooding of magic into the world is likely to have had further reaching ramifications that nobody could have foreseen, and so my world is also filled with magical/paranormal creatures who have had an influx of power and ambition. It’s probably not going to surprise any readers who know what I’m like that I hate to write in a universe that only has humans in it. There are no elves in the Arising universe so far, but I’ve only just begun to feel out the shape of it, so there may well be elves in future, if people want more after reading about the strigoi. I am happy to say it’s a universe ripe for expansion. Providing the vampires don’t take over the world, of course, and I’m not telling you now whether they do or do not.

A monster moves through the night, hidden by the darkness, taking men, one by one,
from Seattle’s gay gathering areas.

Amid an atmosphere of crippling fear, Thad Matthews finds his first true love working
in an Italian restaurant called the Blue Moon Café. Sam Lupino is everything Thad has ever hoped for in a man: virile, sexy as hell, kind, and… he can cook!

As their romance heats up, the questions pile up. Who is the killer preying on
Seattle’s gay men? What secrets is Sam’s Sicilian family hiding? And more importantly,
why do Sam's unexplained disappearances always coincide with the full moon?

The strength of Thad and Sam’s love will face the ultimate test when horrific
revelations come to light beneath the full moon.

Excerpt

From the moment Thad stepped through the front door of the Blue Moon Café,
the décor cleared up any mystery about what kind of food they served. The little café,
with its mahogany bar along one wall, its grouping of maybe a dozen tables, and its
faux-tin ceiling, could have been straight out of central casting for “Italian joint.” Thad
saw the requisite checkered tablecloths, the oil paintings of Italian landmarks like the
canals of Venice, the Coliseum, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, and St. Peter’s Square.
And yes, each table sported a candle plugged into the opening of an empty
green-glass Chianti bottle. A TV sat above the bar, thankfully turned off.

“Buona Sera” by Louis Prima played from the overhead speaker system. Thad was
certain the rest of the evening would be peppered with the likes of Dean Martin,
Jerry Vale, Rosemary Clooney, and of course, Sinatra. Underneath the music was
the usual restaurant orchestra: conversation, laughter, the clink of glassware and
 the tinkle of silverware.

The scents of garlic, oregano, basil, and tomatoes perfumed the air. Over a counter
at the rear of the restaurant, Thad could see into the kitchen: a wood-burning oven,
chefs busy at their stations, the occasional upsurge of flame as one of them poured
alcohol into a pan and ignited it by tipping the pan. Thad’s mouth began to water.

He already liked this place.

And he liked it even more when he saw the bartender, who was busy drying
wineglasses and reaching up to hang them upside down on a rack above the bar.
He was a compact little guy, olive skin and shaved head. His muscles tested the
endurance of the black T-shirt he wore, and even from his vantage near the hostess
stand, Thad could make out the thick black five o’clock shadow that covered his jaw.
He was just the kind of guy Thad fantasized about. One who would take him roughly
and be in charge.

Stop it, now! I’m in Green Lake, not Capitol Hill. This guy probably has a wife and
two kids at home and would not appreciate how I’m imagining how he would look
should the seams of that tight T-shirt burst and reveal a defined and hairy chest.
He wouldn’t cotton at all to my thoughts of wondering how his asshole would taste,
for cryin’ out loud.

Or maybe he would….

Thad grinned and bounced up and down a couple of times on his heels, feeling
strangely energized and definitely a little smitten.

Shut up, horndog. Behave yourself.

Winner: GLBT Menage in the 2015 Romance Reviews Reader's Choice Awards!
Finalist: Best Gay Romance in the 28th Annual Lambda Literary Awards!

Let me start with….. never has a book cover fit a book so perfect. Just by looking at it, it really doesn’t speak to you, but once you hit the last page, its like HOLY SHIT, she nailed it!!!!

This book was simply put.. AMAZING, dealing with a condition I had no experience with, and she really did her research. I felt every tic, slap, buzz that Jake made through the story. What a diverse set of individuals she gave us for this story. Tom had my heart, Cass had my soul, and Jake had my everything. This is more than a love story, more than a menage, it a story of discovery. so greatly written I read it in one setting. This is only the second book I’ve read from this author but it will not be my last.

******5 buzzing STARS******

This has been one of the best MMM I have had the pleasure of "reading". Have to use that term loosely because I listened to it. It was very tasteful and believable and of course, super hot. :D

Jake is really a special character and the amount of energy that Garret put into him is incredible. My BF's son has TS, but his isn't so much sounds. Each case is unique, just like each person. Garret did a wonderful job.

Cass is another awesome character. He's the more wild and mysterious sort. The relationship that develops between him and Jake is sort of awesome. I like that he can laugh and make Jake laugh and talk about Jakes syndrome. It makes Jake feel more normal, and it gives them something to bond over, other than Tom.

Tom. He's the first character you meet in this story. He's a busy sort of guy who seems to take on a lot of projects. Not quite sure why he tries to keep himself busy, maybe it's because Cass is always at the restaurant and it gives him something to focus on. Though Tom has all sorts of things going on, he still seems like an incredible boss to work for and he generally cares about, well, everyone.... especially Cass and Jake. He's a protective sort and it's really endearing.

I love how these three come together and find their own way one on one and has a whole unit. You can't help but love all three for their own personalities.

Craig Beck, you rocked it. This audio was everything and so are you
