Author Bio

K. A. Merikan is the pen name for Kat and Agnes Merikan, a team of writers, who are taken for sisters with surprising regularity. Kat’s the mean sergeant and survival specialist of the duo, never hesitating to kick Agnes’s ass when she’s slacking off. Her memory works like an easy-access catalogue, which allows her to keep up with both book details and social media. Also works as the emergency GPS. Agnes is the Merikan nitpicker, usually found busy with formatting and research. Her attention tends to be scattered, and despite pushing thirty, she needs to apply makeup to buy alcohol. Self-proclaimed queen of the roads.

They love the weird and wonderful, stepping out of the box, and bending stereotypes both in life and books. When you pick up a Merikan book, there’s one thing you can be sure of – it will be full of surprises.

Virtual Blog Tour, Review & GIVEAWAY! ~ Dirk Tales by Dan Skinner

Dirk Tales, The Book Blurb

Dirk Tales, The Book includes previously released Misadventures of Doc & Dirk volumes, available now for the first time in paperback, plus additional episodes, and more

He's a middle-aged, newly single, gay photographer starting life over. Along comes a freshly out nineteen-year-old, irreverent free spirit who wants to be his apprentice. Mismatched by more than a generation, what could possibly go wrong? Everything! And it's AWESOME!

Dirk's First Time: Every gay boy has his first experience. Usually it's a memorable, exciting personal time of discovery and intimacy between two young people. But two comic book characters? Is it horseplay or Cosplay?

The Boy At The Gym: First impressions can be deceiving. Sometimes that boy in the baggy clothes, talking to himself in the gym isn't as shy as he appears. Sometimes there's a deviant imp lurking beneath that freckled mask of innocence. Beware the Trojan Nerd!

A "Muse" ing: Most authors struggle with the voices or "muses" in their head when writing. Tuning that voice out becomes a little more challenging when your muse is a real-life nineteen-year-old who inhales espresso and turns out ideas at light speed. Danger Will Robinson!

Daddy and The Rent Boy: In sales, advertising is half the battle. That can become hazardous when you're in the company of an irreverent walking billboard.

Sex Dolls and Bad Dates: We’ve all had one of those dates where we think we've bitten off more than we can chew. The trick to know is Bite or Flight?

Dirk's Quirks: Everyone has idiosyncrasies; that's what makes us interesting. If you're lucky, you get a heaping helping and can share them with everyone.

Make it Naked: Teaching a nineteen-year-old walking hormone photography apprentice to shoot nudes is more than an adventure... It's a human obstacle course.

Blog Post from Dan

What makes some friendships special? I’ve wondered that, seeing many strange combinations that had me standing back thinking: what in tarnation could bring those people together in such a manner that they bonded? Are friendships all a product of chance, or is there some magic in the brew of chemistries that draw some of us to others? Outside of magic and love, friendship seems to be the one thing we share as humans that has no rules or definitions.
I’ve had many friends in my life, and over time as life changes and loves steers some of us in different directions, friends come and go. We lose those special connections and move on. We enjoy what we had. We relish the experiences that came with those relationships at the time. The friends that settle in with us are the ones that are like favorite chairs – comfortable and unobtrusive. Some call them birds of a feather. They’re enough like us that it makes sense that we gravitate to each other. They’re there for conversations when we’re bored, or rants when life throws us curveballs. These are the friends that keep our oars in the water and the boat steady. Not exciting, but perfect just for that reason in a world too hell bent on social drama.
And then there are the friends that steer into us like they’ve made a wrong turn and found themselves on the wrong street and end up tagging along because we seem like we know where we’re going. We have nothing in common except the odd miscalculation of being in the same place at the same time. In the beginning, we tolerate each other’s conversation politely because our lack of commonalities is a sure sign that when we find our own particular avenues we will turn onto them and part ways, never to see each other again.
Except, something peculiar happens. In that walk that begins out of sheer politeness, in a conversation that is there simply to dispel a rude silence, something wonderful occurs. Maybe one of us says something that makes the other laugh; maybe we share a thought that alleviates the strangeness, but we suddenly find that this person with whom we should have no affinity whatsoever has broken through our guard and touched us in some way that makes us like them. This is when a magical friendship is born.

This is the type of friend who stimulates you, makes you think, dares you to try that new dish in the restaurant, take scuba lessons, go skydiving. They are the friends that change things – change you. There’s nothing safe or comfortable about them. They challenge you. But it’s in a manner that makes you step outside your protective shield and actually live. Others will look at you and think, “What a strange pair; what an odd couple!” But in real life this type of friend is just what it seems like... magical.

I really can't wait until this comes out as one large paperback. I want to sit down and read it in its entirety. Not that I'm not enjoying them as Volumes, but I can't wait to have an overall effect.

Thank you Dan, for sharing your muse. He is brilliant and I love his bluntness and sarcasm. You're right, he definitely thinks outside the box as if it never existed. I am almost jealous of him lol.I can't wait until he unleashes his own self on the world, I think he will do incredible things. I also think only you can paint him in the light that you do. You are a fantastic story teller, and the things you guys talk about kind of make the rest of us seem not so weird. We all go through "weird things". Situations that are almost too embarrassing to say them out loud, and you guys just really make it OK to be weird and quirky and have strange things happen to us and do strange things that are a part of us. It's part of being human, and that's what story you seem to tell. In a way, Dirk almost becomes a life muse, not just for you, but for everyone.

This series is just really a breath of fresh air. Like a friend telling you some really messed up shit, and like the good friend you are, you're not judging them, but laughing and sharing right along with them.

5 quirky stars

Keeping secrets from your best friend isn’t right, but it’s easier than admitting you’ve fallen in love with him.

Sharing a late-night kiss with his best friend, Alex, is Riley’s dream come true. Waking up to discover Alex was too drunk to remember anything is more like a nightmare. Scared the truth could destroy their friendship, Riley keeps quiet and pretends nothing happened.

Alex can’t shake the feeling that he said or did something stupid on their group’s drunken weekend away—why else would Riley be avoiding him? Although the explanation he finally gets sounds plausible, Riley’s still acting strange, and trying to figure out why that is unearths emotions Alex has worked hard to bury.

Riley knows not telling Alex how he feels is probably selfish, but he wants one last normal Christmas before he has to come clean and face the potential fallout.

He should have known it wouldn’t be that easy.

Release Day Blitz & Blog Tour ~ Going All In by Kristine Kayne

GOING ALL IN

Men of Boyzville, Book One

By Kristine Cayne

Life has been tough on Harry Cooper. Rejected by his best friend, abandoned by his family, Harry spurns relationships, settling instead for backroom hookups and one-night stands. Out and proud, he scrapes by selling drinks in gold lamé trunks while struggling to make a name for himself as a musician. Desperate for a change, he and his roommate take a trip to Vegas, where Harry finds himself getting more than he’d bet on.

Fragrance chemist Ashton Montgomery is the man behind the Ashton George line of perfumes and colognes. He is also a gay man hiding behind the façade of one of New York City’s most eligible straight bachelors. After a failed paternity suit against him, he sneaks off to Vegas to celebrate his freedom. But is he really free, or is he locked into the future his parents have mapped out for him—CEO to the family business and married to a society woman of their choosing?

A chance meeting at a rock concert in Sin City catapults Harry and Ashton into an adventure where each man comes head to head with what he fears most. Can they learn to trust each other as a couple, or is undeniable lust all they have? When all the cards are on the table, they each must decide whether to fold or go all in.

Harry Cooper burst through the door of his room at the Hard Rock Hotel. It closed behind him with a dramatic clang. “Girl, you will not believe—”
Spotting his best friend Melissa Kincaid half-asleep in a pile of pillows on the massive bed they’d had to share to get the special “Getaway to Vegas” deal, he gasped and slapped her boxer-clad ass. “Seriously? We’re in Sin City, and all you can do is sleep?”
“Yeah, yeah,” she muttered, rubbing her butt cheek as she sat up. “Did you get tickets to something good?”
“Yes.” He sucked in a deep breath. “You won’t fucking believe—oh my God.” He waved a hand in front of his face.
Melissa rolled her eyes. “Please tell me this isn’t another Madonna drag-show revival thing. I had enough of that last year.”
Harry scowled indignantly. That show in Portland had been a blast. But no. “This is a million times better.”
“Better than Madonna? Well, in that case…” She rolled her hand in a go-on motion.
Harry sighed. Melissa just wasn’t in the spirit of their holiday. Her boyfriend of two years had broken up with her right after Christmas, announcing that he was going to London to complete his Ph.D. She’d begged him to continue their relationship long distance, but he’d been adamant. This was going to be a new chapter in his life, and one he’d be writing alone. Yeah. Dick, much?
But that was exactly why they’d left soggy Seattle to come to Vegas. To soak up the sun and the booze and forget about the fact that Valentine’s Day had just passed, and they were both hopelessly single.
“Come on, sweetie,” he coaxed. “Try to guess.”
“Okay, okay.” She shifted around on the bed, adjusting her T-shirt, which had slipped off her shoulder. She was just so cute with her big green eyes and auburn, shoulder-length curls. If he weren’t gay, she’d be the girl for him.
She tapped a long nail against her chin. “Celine?”
Barely able to keep from blurting out his secret, he pressed his lips tightly together and shook his head.
“Cirque du Soleil?”
“No, but that would have been awesome.”
“Hmm.” She shoved off the bed and pushed aside the curtain, probably so she could see the show billboards out on the strip. Cheater.
She glanced at him over her shoulder, her eyes wide and hopeful. “Phantom? I’ve always wanted to see that.”
He laughed. “You know Gerard Butler isn’t in the play, right?”
“I can pretend.” She shot him a sassy smile.
“This is better anyway.”
“Nothing is better than Gerry as the Phantom.”
He sashayed across the room and got in her face, grinning like a loon. “This is way better. Guess again.”
Her gaze returned to the strip. When she spotted the sign, he heard the hitch in her breath. She whipped around and grabbed his shoulders. “The Red Hot Chili Peppers?”
“Yes!”
He said it much louder than he’d intended. Okay, he’d shouted, but could you blame him? They were going to see the freaking Red Hot Chili Peppers, and he’d get to hear Flea, the best bassist in the world, live!
“Oh my God. Are you serious? Those tickets have to cost more than our whole trip.”
He shot her a wink. “I may have done some wheeling and dealing with the concierge.”
Her eyes swept over him and narrowed. “Please tell me no sexual favors were exchanged in this transaction.”
Shooting out his hip, he slapped a hand to his chest. “Moi? I’ll have you know, Miss Melissa, I do have other talents.”
Waving her hands in front of her face, she ducked her head. “I really, really don’t want to know.”

Virtual Blog Tour & Giveaway ~ Blanks Spaces by Cass Lennox

Absence is as crucial as presence.

The decision to stop dating has made Vaughn Hargrave’s life infinitely simpler: he has friends, an excellent wardrobe, and a job in the industry he loves. That’s all he really needs, especially since sex isn’t his forte anyway and no one else seems interested in a purely romantic connection. But when a piece is stolen from his art gallery and insurance investigator Jonah Sondern shows up, Vaughn finds himself struggling with that decision.

Jonah wants his men like his coffee: hot, intense, and daily. But Vaughn seems to be the one gay guy in Toronto who doesn’t do hookups, which is all Jonah can offer. No way can Jonah give Vaughn what he really wants, not when Jonah barely understands what love is.

When another painting goes missing, tension ramps up both on and off the clock. Vaughn and Jonah find themselves grappling not just with stolen art, but with their own differences. Because a guy who wants nothing but romance and a guy who wants nothing but sex will never work—right? Not unless they find a way to fill in the spaces between them.

Virtual Blog Tour & Review, Giveaway ~ Freckles by Amy Lane

About Freckles

Carter Embree has always hoped to be rescued from his productive, tragically boring, and (slightly) ethically compromised life. But when an urchin at a grocery store shoves a bundle of fluff into his hands, Carter goes from rescuee to rescuer—and he needs a little help.

Sandy Corrigan, the vet tech who helps ease Carter into the world of dog ownership, first assumes that Carter is a crazy-pants client who just needs to relax. But as Sandy gets a glimpse into the funny, kind, sexy man under Carter’s mild-mannered exterior, he sees that with a little care and feeding, Carter might be Super-Pet Owner—and decent boyfriend material to boot.

But Carter needs to see himself as a hero first. As he says good-bye to his pristine house and hello to carpet treatments and dog walkers, he finds that there really is more to himself than a researching drudge without a backbone. A Carter Embree can rate a Sandy Corrigan. He can be supportive, he can be a hero, he can be a man who stands up for his principles!

He can be the owner of a small dog.

This is a super duper adorably sweet holiday read.

Even with the job Carter works, you cannot help but love him. He isn't evil like the big boss man and it takes a 2 lb bundle to help him realize that.

I'm not one for small dogs, but this story almost made me want one....almost! :)

The story has a bit of drama that Carter must overcome. Overall it's really just a feel good book though, that leaves you rooting for the MC's.

I highly recommend this one for your Christmas wish list, and if you purchase it, a donation is made to The Trevor Project. It's really a win-win.

I really can't wait for Christmas now!! :)

Who knew that a two pound ball of fluff would lead to two men falling in love.
Poor Carter is having a hard time. He is working on a case, at the law firm that he works at, that is skirting on being ethically wrong, and then he comes home one night to find a “Dear John” letter from his live in boyfriend. After work he goes to the grocery store and  is handed a two pound fluff ball, and the kid that hands it to him just takes off. He has no clue what to do will said fluff ball, he honestly doesn't believe that it's a dog.

Sandy is a vet tech at a pet hospital and is met with a crazed Carter with no clue what to do. Sandy assures him everything will be fine and even gives him some tips on how to be a new puppy daddy. Little does he know that crazed Carter would be more than just a client in need of some extra help.

Over the course of the next couple of weeks Carter and Sandy relationship go from pet owner and vet tech to so much more. They are just what each other has been looking for. And the little ball of fluff, Freckles, is all to thank.

This is such a sweet book. I am not much for little dogs, but damn did it not make me want one of my own.

One of my favorite things about this sweet little read is that Riptide is donating 20% of the proceeds to the Trevor Project. The Trevor Project is the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) young people ages 13-24.
