Can Tennant show Jared that age is just a number and that love is all that matters?
The Rowe brothers are famous hockey hotshots, but as the youngest of the trio, Tennant has always had to play against his brothers’ reputations. To get out of their shadows, and against their advice, he accepts a trade to the Harrisburg Railers, where he runs into Jared Madsen. Mads is an old family friend and his brother’s one-time teammate. Mads is Tennant’s new coach. And Mads is the sexiest thing on which he’s ever laid eyes.
Jared Madsen’s hockey career was cut short by a fault in his heart, but coaching keeps him close to the game. When Ten is traded to the team, his carefully organized world is thrown into chaos. Nine years his junior and his best friend’s brother, he knows Ten is strictly off-limits, but as soon as he sees Ten’s moves, on and off the ice, he knows his heart could get him into trouble again.

This is a good
beginning to a series.
Ten is the youngest of the "Rowe Brothers" who all have careers in
hockey. Big brother Brady is constantly up Tens ass about being on the
"big6" teams, seeing as how he's on the Boston team and thinks he
knows best. All Ten wants to do is be his own man and step out of the shadows
of his brothers and all the first liners he plays behind.
He gets signed on to the Harrisburg Railers which one of the coachs is an old
family friend. I kind of feel bad for Jared aka "Madds". When Brady
tries to stick his nose where it doesn't belong and sounds like a condescending
dick to him, on top of which he seemed to have stopped talking to Madds after
his injury. He doesn't seem like a very good friend, and he, again, royally
pissed me off. Madds also has a 17 y.o. son, whose grandfather thinks he know
best for his grandson and is constantly trying to roll over Jared's choices for
his son.
After some reluctance about the chemistry between Jared and Ten, they finally
give in. Lust turns to feelings, turns to love...and acceptance from Jared's
son first. This seems to make Jared a little more confident in his life and
fathering skills, so when he steps up against Ev, it's a beautiful thing.
I wanted to slap Ev with my Kindle. No one has the right to out someone else
without their consent, and what he did was beyond forgivable, to me.
This story, to me, has a few loose ends that I don't think were tied up very
neatly....it's possible it is due to it being a continuous series that they may
come about later, I hope, even though each book is about a different character.
Which I really hope Stand book gets put on audio.
As for the narration, I am pretty impressed with Sean on this one. He is kind
of got and miss with me, and this one's definitely a hit. He did a great job
differentiating the voices for Madds and Ten, with their age gaps...Ten sounded
like he was in his twenties, but not annoying in a too young kind of way (like
Ryker, Jared's son lol) and Madds all silky smooth. Stan was still my favorite.
He's the giant Russian goalie.
