Guarding Mr. Fine (Tough Love #3) by HelenKay Dimon

In this steamy novel of seduction and international intrigue, two brave men are stripped of their defenses—and exposed to dangers and desires that simmer below the surface.

As an agent with the CIA’s special activities division, Seth Lang lives for risk—and yet he’s stuck playing bodyguard to the U.S. consul general in Munich. Although Seth’s last assignment nearly killed him, babysitting some desk jockey in a suit sounds way too easy. But when he lays eyes on the new top man, tactical expert Rick Fine, Seth’s thrilled to see just how hard this job is going to get. Mr. Tall, Dark, and Quiet has a body worth guarding—and he requires hands-on attention day and night.

Dispatched to a German consulate to expose the murder of his predecessor, Rick finds himself in an extremely vulnerable position. He needs a man like Seth—in so many ways. This mission will inevitably plunge them both into jeopardy, but each new threat only brings them closer. Rick just hopes that he can keep his deepest, darkest secret hidden—or else risk imperiling a relationship they’re both fighting for their lives to protect.

Fall in love with the men of HelenKay Dimon’s thrilling novels:
MR. AND MR. SMITH | THE TALENTED MR. RIVERS | GUARDING MR. FINE

Includes an excerpt from another Loveswept title.

"I probably, maybe, someday soon, love you"

Wow, this is the best one in the series to date.
I adore everything about Seth and Rick. Their chemistry right from the start (aside from the awkward departure of a 1-night stand in a club) was in sync. These two were on fire with their banter.

The action in this series seems a bit over the top, but I like it. Kind of like overly done action movies, like Die Hard. This book wasn't quite as "loud" as the first book, and even less than the second. It felt a little more believable to me, but even then, I think k it's just Seth and Rick that made me love it all the more.

When Seth would get jealous and did his grumbling, it was sort of adorable. Rick calling him out on it was even funnier, especially where Alec (ex friends with bennies) was concerned. I love that Rick didn't let Seth walk all over him, he took the situation by the balls himself, and wasn't afraid to stand up to Seth.

I all around liked the characters better in this book, even Helena and Max had me laughing. At the end all you could do was shake your finger at Helena and say "oh, you!"

4.5* for me and I really hope Alec is next. He's so cold and calculating, I wonder what's going on in his head.

Oh how I have missed this series!! This is the story of the sarcastic, snarky Seth and the super hot nerdy desk jockey Rick. It starts off hot and just gets hotter as it goes. The chemistry these two have is off the charts!  And the witty banter between them was great.

Of course there was a lot of action in this book, and not just the bedroom kind. And speaking of the bedroom, these two were HOT!!! Of course there are secrets that each of these are holding and they do all come to the surface. One secret that Rick is carrying could jeopardize their relationship.

Of course there are a few secondary characters that want..no NEED to know more about. The one that I need more of is Alec, he is Rick’s friend (once with benefits) and he is just so mysterious. There is more to him that just the produce business for sure. I really hope he gets a book and soon!

I think this has been my favorite book of this series so far and can’t wait to see where it goes from here. So get on it HelenKay..lol!

I give this book 4.5 Super Sexy, Snarky Stars!!

Excerpt:

Feeling reluctant to take his hands off of Hunter's sides, Van climbed off the back of the bike and stretched his legs a little, smiling sheepishly at Hunter.
"It's been a while since I road on a bike," Van told him and smiled.
"Yeah, well, I've been on it for the last three weeks, pretty much straight. I eat, sleep, and ride. I'm on a bit of R&R now."
Trying to keep his giddy smile hidden, Van wanted to jump up and down that this god-like creature was in his small town for some R&R. Turning so he faced Jocassee Lake, he leaned on the side of the picnic table. He loved the view from this spot and could usually gaze for hours at the wildlife and rugged terrain, but he was too focused on Hunter to take it all in today.
"So, how long are you in town for, Hunter?" Van whispered.
Doing a little stretch as well, Hunter strutted over to where Van was leaning. He had a loose-legged walk that brought Van’s mind immediately to sex. Looking into his eyes, Van couldn't help but get lost in their depths again. Time seemed to stand still as Hunter leaned into Van's space and whispered, "As long as you want me to be," and kissed the side of his mouth.
Van couldn’t breathe, he couldn’t focus. All he could do was feel, and what he felt stunned him.
The only noise, besides the occasional hawk screeching for his next meal, was Van's gasp of air as Hunter kissed him again, lightly running his tongue over Van's lower lip before gently biting it. Van’s arms had a mind of their own as they grabbed onto Hunter’s hips, pulling him closer.
Both were out of breath, and they hadn’t done anything but exchange a few light kisses. Van couldn't ever remember getting so turned on by just a kiss. This man was so good, yet so bad for his heart. Van could feel himself getting addicted to Hunter’s kisses and craving so much more. He was fucking screwed and he knew it.
                                              ****
Shit, Hunter thought about what Van would taste like the whole ride up the mountain, now he couldn't get enough. His taste was warm and sunny with a hint of cinnamon. When Van's hands landed on his hips, pulling him forward, it took all of Hunter’s control not to grab his head and plunder his mouth with his own. But he knew less than nothing about Van, other than he seemed a little on the shy side, and he didn't want to scare him away. Hunter was more of a rough around the edges, take no shit kind of guy, but being there with Van made him want to take his time and savor. Savor Van’s taste and the way his cock rubbed against his through his jeans. Jesus.
"Kiss me," Van begged as Hunter again ran his tongue around his mouth, biting not so gently this time at his lips.
Needing no more encouragement, Hunter grabbed the back of Van's head and slid his tongue roughly into Van's mouth, enlisting a long groan from the man. Van’s cock, having a mind of its own, rubbed faster against Hunter's, and his tongue wrestled for domination. Hunter grabbed the hair at the back of Van's neck, forcing his tongue deeper into his mouth, sliding his tongue in and out, mimicking what he wanted to do next. He couldn't get enough of his taste, of his essence, his scent. Hunter didn't get mushy about kissing a guy, but damn it, he felt that kiss to his balls and back and was ready to explode.
The sound of a car pulling onto the gravel had the two reluctantly pulling apart, but not breaking eye contact as the car headed back in the same direction it came from.
"Well, that was..." Van touched his lips and smiled.

"Yeah," was all Hunter could get out as he adjusted his dick in his tight jeans. He couldn’t understand his need to hold on to this moment. He wanted to grab hold of Van and never let go.

Zane refilled my glass and returned it to me with a naughty smirk. “You get kinda corny when you’re tipsy, Schuster. It’s cute.”

“Cute?”

“Yeah. You get goofy. Your ears turn red and it makes the freckles on your nose stand out. Then you do that thing with your hair where you swipe your hand through it so many times that it looks like you just rolled out of bed.”

“Uh…okay. That’s embarrassing.” I searched for a reflective surface as I attempted to pat my unruly brown hair into some semblance of order. “I was going for debonair and I got barmitzvah kid chic,” I grumbled.

Zane leaned forward and gave me an intense look I didn’t understand.

“You don’t have to be anyone but yourself with me, Eric. I like you just the way you are.” He sat back again and cocked his head. “So let’s talk about this stupid engagement party. What’s the dress code?”

“Um… it’s probably dressy casual,” I replied with a furrowed brow. I wanted to back up a sentence or two and analyze his words and dissect the meaning of “I like you just the way you are”.

“The usual oxymoron,” he snarked. “You are going with me, right?”

“Sure. If you want.”

“I want. It’ll save us both the trouble of finding some poor unsuspecting sucker to drag to a fancy shindig.”

“True. Speaking of suckers, don’t you have a date tonight?”

Zane glanced at his watch and then stretched his legs out on the bench so his shoe nudged my thigh. “I’ve got time. Talk to me. What else have you been up to lately? I noticed there’s a new exhibit at the Modern Museum. Have you gone? I think it’s a midcentury retrospective with Motherwell and de Kooning. I know you like the scribbly art and…”

His conversation was easy. The gentrified version of his former surfer dude accent had a lilting quality I could have listened to for hours. I felt myself truly begin to relax and let go of the invisible hold I’d had on my emotions, like a swimmer grasping onto a ledge who finally realizes he can reach the bottom of the pool. Being with someone who knew quirky details about me and accepted them without judgment or reservation was a gift.

I treasured all of my friends, but Zane was special. Our friendship was rooted in geography and history and now time. He wasn’t making a romantic advance when he asked me to attend Nick’s engagement party with him. That was latent wishful thinking on my part. Zane was simply being who he always was. My oldest and best friend.

Synopsis:

Jax
That awkward moment when you accidentally fool around with a closet case. I have a strict policy against dating closeted guys. Confused straight guys? Absolutely. Guys who don’t mind being out and proud? Duh. But closet cases are a hard pass. Been there, done that, have the t-shirt with a giant picture of a broken heart on it. It would be a lot easier to stick to my dating rule if Matthew Hart could be slightly less irresistible.

Matthew
Being a closeted gay college football player is not all it’s cracked up to be. After I broke my high school boyfriend’s heart by refusing to come out of the closet, I swore off serious dating. I don’t want to hurt anyone like that again, and I’ll admit I’m protecting my own heart in the process, too. It was a lot easier to stick to my no dating rule before I laid eyes on Jax Greene. He’s exactly my type in every possible way. If there’s even the slightest chance that history won’t repeat itself, I want to see where things might lead. Convincing Jax to give me a chance though might be the toughest play I’ve ever made.

COVER REVEAL & A NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR ~ GOODBYE PARADISE BY SARINA BOWEN

It's time to announce my next release, which is a male/male romance. Throw another log on the fire, because I have a little story to tell you.
Back when I was a newbie author, I sometimes listened to others’ advice when I should have listened to my gut instead.
A couple of years ago I wrote two gorgeous male/male romances, but I published them under another name. (This was after Understatement of the Year but before Him & Us.)
And—big surprise—my core readership never found these books. It was a shame, because I adore them. So I unpublished the two until I had time to give them the love they deserved.
And now is that moment. I’m republishing these works as Sarina Bowen books, with fresh covers. There are also new titles because one of my previous titles confused readers. That’s never good.
On March 21st, I will re-release Josh & Caleb's story as: GOODBYE PARADISE.

With love,
Sarina

Most people called it a cult. But for twenty years, Josh and Caleb called it home.

In Paradise, there is no television. No fast food. Just long hours of farm work and prayer on a dusty Wyoming ranch, and nights in a crowded bunkhouse. The boys of the Compound are kept far from the sinners’ world.
But Joshua doesn’t need temptation to sin. His whole life, he’s wanted his best friend, Caleb. By day they work side by side. Only when Josh closes his eyes at night can they be together the way he craves.
It can never be. And his survival depends on keeping his terrible desires secret.
Caleb has always protected Josh against the worst of the bullying at the Compound. But he has secrets of his own, and a plan to get away — until it all backfires.
Josh finds himself homeless in a world that doesn’t want him. Can Caleb find him in time? And will they find a place of safety, where he can admit to Josh how he really feels?
Warning: Contains a hot male/male romance, copious instances of taking the Lord's name in vain, and love against the kitchen counterThis book was previously released under the title: In Front of God & Everyone.

Questions & Answers:

Q. How can readers be sure they didn’t read these books before?
A. The previous edition of Goodbye Paradise was titled In Front of God & Everyone. I had to change the title because the religious overtones of the old title led a few readers to believe that this was a religious book. (Spoiler: it’s not!) To prevent confusion, I've made the book’s description almost identical to the old one. The setting is rather unique, and I doubt that many readers will forget they've read an LGBTQ romance that begins in a cult...
Q. This plot reminds me of Zach’s upbringing in Keepsake. Did Josh & Caleb leave the same cult as Zach?
A. Yes! Same setting, different characters, different story. Zach didn’t trust that he was lovable. Caleb and Josh, on the other hand, are afraid to admit their love. Same origin, different journeys.
Q. Will these books be up for pre-order?
A. Yes—in early to mid March.
Q. And what about Goodreads?
A. The book will be listed at Goodreads. But it’s entirely possible that the fervent Goodreads librarians will lump the new title in with the old one. Or not? Authors can’t really control much of what happens on that platform. But we shall persevere!
Q. What else is in your pipeline?
A. On May 2, Pipe Dreams (Brooklyn Bruisers #3) will publish! You can always stay up to date with new releases and publicity contacts at www.sarinabowen.com//publication-schedule/

Virtual Blog Tour & #Giveaway Embers: Common Law Book 2 by Kate Sherwood

About Embers

Small town—big problems. Jericho Crewe is back in Mosely, Montana, trying to deal with police corruption, interfering feds, his newly discovered family members, and, of course, Wade Granger.

He doesn’t really need a biker war on top of it all, but as the bodies start to pile up, it becomes pretty clear that’s what he’s got. Not only that, but Wade’s involved somehow, and as soon as Wade is a part of something, things that seemed clear become cloudy.

With the feds breathing down his neck, Jericho has to find his way through Wade’s maze of half truths and manipulations. It would all be so much easier if Jericho could think straight in the other man’s presence. So much easier if their passionate past could be forgotten, and if he could be sure he’s strong enough to resist the temptation of a passionate present.

About Kate Sherwood

Kate Sherwood started writing about the same time she got back on a horse after almost twenty years away from riding. She’d like to think she was too young for it to be a midlife crisis, but apparently she was ready for some changes!

Kate grew up near Toronto, Ontario (Canada) and went to school in Montreal, then Vancouver. But for the last decade or so she’s been a country girl. Sure, she misses some of the conveniences of the city, but living close to nature makes up for those lacks. She’s living in Ontario’s “cottage country”--other people save up their time and come to spend their vacations in her neighborhood, but she gets to live there all year round!

Since her first book was published in 2010, she’s kept herself busy with novels, novellas, and short stories in almost all the sub-genres of m/m romance. Contemporary, suspense, scifi or fantasy--the settings are just the backdrop for her characters to answer the important questions. How much can they share, and what do they need to keep? Can they bring themselves to trust someone, after being disappointed so many times? Are they brave enough to take a chance on love?

Kate’s books balance drama with humor, angst with optimism. They feature strong, damaged men who fight themselves harder than they fight anyone else. And, wherever possible, there are animals: horses, dogs, cats ferrets, squirrels… sometimes it’s easier to bond with a non-human, and most of Kate’s men need all the help they can get.

After five years of writing, Kate is still learning, still stretching herself, and still enjoying what she does. She’s looking forward to sharing a lot more stories in the future.

Virtual Blog Tour #Spotlight #Giveaway ~ Working It by Christine D'Abo

Thank you for having me here today. I’m so happy to be able to talk to you about my new book, WORKING IT, which is book one in my new Ringside Romance series. Don’t let the series title fool you, this is low on the boxing and high on sexual tension.

As an avid reader of all things romance, I personally love it when authors take chances and play around with what we consider typical romance tropes. Those situations that for whatever reason, really work for us as lovers of romance. One of my personal favorite tropes is the whole boss-assistant dynamic. There’s something wonderful about the tension that can be created when two people are working together, under pressure and in close quarters, that appeals to me.
I wanted to take this trope and do something a little fun with it. What would happen if both the characters were gay? What if they were so vastly different that under any other circumstance they probably never meet, let alone fall in love? What if they worked day in and day out in an office together?

In WORKING IT, Nolan Carmichael is working through the trauma of a serious car accident. He gets a job as Zack Anderson’s executive assistant, a position that no one at the company wants. Somehow the two of them work through their differences and fall in love.
I hope you’ll come along for the ride.
You can visit Christine at her website www.christinedabo.com, and chat with her on Facebook and Twitter. Want to keep up with Christine’s new releases? Sign up for her newsletter and receive a free book!

About Working It

Nolan Carmichael is getting a fresh start—new career, new company, new life. The only problem is, he liked his old life just fine . . . until an accident robbed him of his health, his job, his self-confidence, and his ability to go out in public without having anxiety attacks.

Zack Anderson has scared away his last four executive assistants. So when he hires Nolan on a whim, he’s not too worried, since Nolan will be gone within the week anyway. Two weeks later, Nolan has made himself indispensable, completely reforming Zack’s schedule, life . . . and libido.

But in a company already torn by internal politics, one wrong step could ruin both their careers. And not only are they working to reopen Ringside Gym, Zack’s retreat when he was a troubled teen, but they also can’t help themselves falling for each other. If only the rest of their lives could go as smoothly as things do when they’re alone together.

Now available from Riptide Publishing. http://www.riptidepublishing.com/titles/working-it

Review

I am a sucker for a broken man, and Nolan fit that perfectly. Several years ago he was in a horrible accident that not only left him physically broken, but also mentally broken.  In an attempt to get his life back together, he sets out to find a new job. He knows he isn't as qualified for this job, but he knows he has to start somewhere.
Zack is an a**hole with anger issues. He has gone through assistants like water and now is in the process of hiring a new one, knowing that this one won't last long either.
As Nolan is in the bathroom trying to calm himself down from having an anxiety attack, he is caught staring at a very handsome man. Little did he know this man would soon be his boss.
Working for Zack is no piece of cake, but Nolan actually enjoys his job and is handling all the tasks thrown at him well. At the end of a very long first week, Nolan’s sister drags him out to a club which triggers so many things that he ends up having a full blown attack. And of course this all just so happens to take place in front of his new boss. Nolan never wanted for Zack to see him like this and felt that his job would be very short lived because of it.
As time passes, Zack and Nolan have developed a wonderful working relationship. However the a**hole comes out in full force one day and it sends Nolan into another attack. Surprisingly Zack notices and calms Nolan down quickly and at that moment finds it the perfect time to also kiss Nolan.
The attraction between these two is off the charts, and once the first kiss is out of the way they find it hard to not take it further. Let me tell you, the scene in Zack’s gym….HOT!!!! I will tell you that this book you get more story than sexy times and I for one found that very refreshing.
Oh and speaking of Zack’s gym. When he was a younger, he and a few of his friends found themselves involved in a local boxing gym, Ringside, that was a great escape for several LGBT youth. When the owner passed away, Zack did everything he could to buy the rundown gym in hopes of one day reopening it and continue to give back to the LGBT youth. When he told Nolan of his plan, Nolan was ready to jump in head first to help.
As in all books, it's not roses and sunshine for these two, they definitely have some serious hurdles they must jump, but luckily they are able to overcome them quickly to give us all a very happy ending.
This is the first book I have read of this author and I have to say I am now a fan! I can’t wait to see where this story goes and see more of these guys.

I give this book 4 solid sweet stars.
