Blog Tour & Giveaway ~ The Ghost in the Mirror by Faith Gibson

Title: The Ghost in the Mirror (Samuel Dexter #1)
Author: Faith Gibson
Genre: M/M Romance
Release Date: September 29, 2016
Photographer: Randy Rls Sewell
What do you do when you have no memories of your life except the one moment that took everything away? My name is Dex and I'm a Marine. Somewhere in the horrors of the sand overseas, an explosion took out not only most of my unit but also my memories of everything that happened before that day. When my memories don’t return, the explosion also ends my career in the military. That one moment costs me everything. Starting from scratch sucks. I don’t even know what foods I like or what types of music I listen to. Am I a boxer or briefs man? Do I like women or men? I also have to figure out what I’m going to do with my life from this point on. While adjusting to my new life, I start seeing things -- things that no one else can see. I think that maybe my head injury caused more than amnesia. When one of my "visions" won't leave me alone, I have no choice but to believe in ghosts. Along with the ghosts during the day, at night I dream vividly of two men. But are these two men merely dreams, or are they memories? When one man steps through the door of my hospital room, I have the answer. This man literally tries to lead me down memory lane, culminating in a searing kiss. Too bad my brain isn't cooperating, because this man is breathtaking. With the help of my sassy grandmother, I begin to rebuild my life. I am Samuel Dexter, and these are my stories. WARNING: This book contains scenes that might be considered triggers for some. Sam is a Marine involved in an explosion. This book also (mildly) describes children being kidnapped in the past and their remains found later.

I sat down on the stump and allowed the sound of the water to soothe my soul. When I had complained about karma coming after me for some wrong I’d done, Grams chewed my ass out and said I was being kept alive for something I had yet to do. Fate had tried to kill me twice, and I had survived both times, so I obviously had a purpose for still being here. That purpose manifested itself in front of me. I was so used to Cindy being around me now that I had stopped being surprised when she showed up. She climbed down the bank and stood in the water.

“Can you feel that? Can you feel the water rushing over your feet?”

She shook her head no. The little girl bent down and tried to run her hand through the rolling water, but nothing happened. It was in that moment that I vowed to stop being a whiny bitch. This little girl had lost her life, most assuredly in a horrific way, and I was complaining because I was alive. She floated back onto the bank and walked toward me. Cindy climbed up on my lap and leaned her head against my good shoulder. I would have given anything to feel her hair tickling my neck. This precious child needed comfort, and I couldn’t give it to her.

“I’m sorry I got hurt, but I promise I’ll start searching for clues again real soon. I have to go to see Dr. Carr tomorrow, so I’ll stop by the old fairground then.” Her essence combined with mine briefly, letting me know she was okay with what I had said. It was the strangest feeling, having another entity flow through you. She leaned back and mouthed something. Of course I couldn’t hear her and reminded her of it. She jumped down from my lap and mimed singing into a microphone. “You want me to sing?” Cindy nodded so hard, her hair bounced up and down. “Okay, kid. It’s your ears.”

I’d been in a pensive mood ever since Orlando’s visit at the hospital, so I decided to sing something upbeat. I started belting out Jason Mraz’s “I’m Yours”, and my little ghost started dancing. She grabbed the sash of her dress, holding on to both dirty ends as she twirled around, making her blue dress float around her. For the first time since she appeared to me, Cindy smiled, and I laughed. I was so caught up in the connection between the two of us that I didn’t hear the footsteps behind me. When a voice joined mine, blending in perfect harmony, I froze and Cindy disappeared.

I wanted to stop singing so badly, but I wanted to continue hearing his beautiful voice worse. I closed my eyes and sang, because if I looked up at Orlando, I’d have probably done something really unmanly. Like cried. And begged. And begged while I was crying. I’m not sure what I’d have begged him for, but it seemed the right thing to do. After the song was over, only then did I open my eyes. “We always did sound good together,” he whispered.

“I wish I could remember that.” I spoke honestly, keeping my eyes to the spot where Cindy had been. “I want so badly to remember it all, and I bet you’d probably like to forget.”

“Honestly? Yes. Most days I would like to forget I ever met you. Then there are the good days I cling to what we had and hope it wasn’t my only shot at ever finding love. But if it was, then at least I knew a love like no other.”

Orlando’s words killed me. Stabbed me in the heart, twisted, and pulled the organ out of my chest, tossing it to the ground where it landed with a flat thud at my feet. Then I remembered that he had a wife and child. If what he just said was true, he didn’t love his wife. God, how screwed up was that?

“Before we get to the reason I’m here, would you mind telling me who you were singing and laughing with when I walked up?”

Well, fuck.

Review

This book was right up my alley. Sam is a Marine that was injured in the line of combat. He wakes up in the hospital and has no clue where he is, why he's there or even who he is. Once released to go home with his Grandmother, who I love by the way, he starts to see things that he chalks up to PTSD.  While he thinks he's going crazy, he actually realizes that he has a special gift of seeing ghosts.

He feels that his little ghost, Cindy, did not die of natural causes and is determined to find out what happened to her. He joins forces with a kick ass PI to help him solve the mystery of Cindy’s death.Along the way he is starting to remember small pieces of his life and those that he loved and lost.

There is a lot more mystery than romance in this book in my opinion and that is something that I gotta say I liked that. When Sam and his first love Orlando reconnect I felt that it was secondary to finding Cindy’s killer. But when their romance is brought to the front, it's super fast, and it almost felt rushed to me.

I really can't wait to see what the rest of this series will bring.

I give this book 4 1/2 Supernatural Stars!

When north meets south, sparks fly.

Adrian is a student from a northern college transferring to Georgia Tech. Used to seeing snowmobiles outnumbering the cars on campus, Adrian finds himself living in a state hotter than hell and feeling completely lost in the heart of Atlanta. A chance encounter introduces him to Davis who Adrian knows is trouble, but can’t help falling for.
Davis is the picture of big man on campus and oozes with confidence, at least until he meets Adrian.  Something about Adrian has Davis’s usual charm flying out of the window and everything goes from smooth to hell as Davis tries to make Adrian his own.
Between awkward dates, second-degree burns, study sessions, and snow, the two stumble their way into a relationship neither had planned. Will Davis give up the bachelor life to take a chance at a relationship with Adrian, or will he walk away from something special just to stick to his original plan?

Excerpt:
Ten minutes until kickoff and it was like every person in the student body had showed up. Adrian was squished next to Mark and a girl wearing glitter tattoos on her cheeks. She and her friend were taking selfies, and somehow, Adrian got tugged into one.
“What’s your name?” the girl hollered.
He leaned in, yelling, “Adrian.”
“Mara.” She smiled over at him.
“Mara!” a guy called from behind them, then he landed on Adrian’s back.
“Careful, Davis!” Mara yelled.
Bending over from the weight of the guy, Adrian would have face-planted into the person in front of him if it hadn’t been for Mark grabbing his shirt. The fucking game hadn’t started, and he was about to be on the injury list. And Adrian wasn’t even playing in the game!
“Whoa, whoa, whoa.” The guy on his back grabbed him and wrapped an arm around Adrian’s chest.
The person in front of him turned with a scowl on his face before he smirked at the man behind him and raised his hand. “Davis!”
Hands clapped over his head, and the damn bull in the china shop behind him still had his arm around Adrian.
The two chatted above him, and Adrian glanced over at Mark who was rolling his eyes. “That’s Davis.”
Oh yeah, because that explained everything. It’s Davis so it’s natural to start chatting it up with Adrian snuggled right in. Boundaries, people, boundaries. Apparently, tackle-boy Davis seemed to know everyone since people all around shouted his name. Adrian felt Davis’s deep chuckle and wondered why the hell he was still being held by him.
Adrian turned and glanced over his shoulder, then kind of wished he hadn’t. Davis was laughing while talking to the guy Adrian almost fell into before. Davis was hot… like hotter than Atlanta. Black hair and a five o’clock shadow around a strong jaw. Built enough to belong on the football field and damn, and he had light ice-blue eyes. Adrian had an urge to reach out and touch Davis’s face to make sure he was fucking real. The only thing that detracted from the model-perfect looks was a small scar on his bottom lip, which Adrian thought was sexy as hell. The white line bisected plump full lips, which made Adrian want to kiss it. And he shouldn’t be thinking that.
With a small twist of his arm, Adrian was free of Davis. He glanced back at him.
“Don’t trample the newb, Davis,” Luke hollered from down the row.

Davis’s blue eyes glinted in the noonday sun, and a crooked smile appeared on his face. Adrian felt like prey in the presence of a predator, trapped by a sea of fifty-five thousand people.

Author Bio:
Short, sexy and sweet—where a little love goes a long way.
That’s the best way to describe Jackie Nacht’s stories. I was introduced to M/M Romance through my sister, Stephani, and read it for years. Then, I thought it was time to put my own stories on paper. I began writing short and sweet stories that ended with a happily ever after...and sometimes more than one, in the case of my YA Fork in the Road series, which has interactive endings.
Thinking back to my own book addiction, where there were many nights I stayed up way too late so I could read just one more chapter—yeah, right—I decided to write short romances for young adults as well as adults. Hopefully, they will give high school and college students, or working men and women something they can read during their lunch hour, in between classes or just when they want to briefly get away from the daily stresses of everyday life.

Exclusive Interview with Jackie Nacht:

M2M: Where do you look for an obscure source of inspiration?

Jackie: My readers on Facebook. I have had spiders pics and venomous animals shared all over my wall and thought, I’m going to write about this fear I have. Not only can I squish a spider in my home, I have my children naming them. So thank you readers for the research help and overcoming a fear I’ve had since childhood.

Now the pictures of Clowns that my readers love to share, *shudders* never! There will never be a book about clown romance. No thank you! That’s a fear that I’ll take with me until I’m old and grey LOL.

M2M: Where is your favorite writing spot?

Jackie: The dining room table at night. I can still talk to my husband while trying to get words on a page. Sometimes, our banter even helps get the creative juices going LOL.

M2M: Do you have any mentors?

Jackie: Hands down, my sister Stephani.
((M2M: awwwww!))

M2M: Do you normally write with music in the background? If so, does it fit the mood of the scenes you’re writing?

Jackie: I’ve never written with music although most of my plotting is done while running with music. Depending on the song, it definitely helps me picture a scene in my head. And there have been many times, I’ve been two miles further because I zoned out. :D

M2M: How far do you go to research your books?

Jackie: Classes and interviews but most of my research is online. Readers have helped me a lot. I don’t know what I’d do without some of my readers. And yes, I have chatted up a hygienist during my cleaning. :D LOL

M2M: Do you have a favorite character? If so, is it based on someone you know?

jackie: Drew was always my favourite from See. He was the kid I couldn’t help from afar and the reason I started to put words on a page. I felt helpless at the time that another kid was lost to this world. That evolved into me writing short and sweet for everyone needing a quick pick me up through the day. I wish I could hug everyone having a bad day but if I can put a smile on one person reading my book, it makes it worthwhile for me.

Hugs

Thank you so much for taking time out of your schedule to talk with us, Jackie!

Virtual Blog Tour & Giveaway ~ Investigating Julius Drake by Daisy Harris

Welcome to the Investigating Julius Drake blog tour! I’m Daisy, the author, and I’ll be sharing excerpts from the book, as well as extra information about the characters, location and story. Up until recently, Seattle was my home town, and I’ve stolen plenty of locations and institutions as settings for Investigating Julius Drake. Together, we’ll take a tour through the twisty-turny, damp and caffeine-addled world that my protagonist, Henry Walker, finds himself in. Grab yourself a double, almond, split-shot, extra-foam latte, pull up a chair, and join us! And don’t forget to comment for a chance to win a $30 Starbucks gift card. Drink like a Seattleite and enjoy.

About Investigating Julius Drake

After arriving at Seattle’s prestigious Clinton Academy, fourteen-year-old Henry Walker realizes he won’t fit in. If he’s going to run with the rich and powerful, he’ll have to hide his modest background, his lack of interest in girls, and most importantly, his fascination with his handsome but troubled classmate Julius Drake.

When Julius draws Henry into the investigation of a classmate’s suicide attempt, Henry can’t resist the case—or Julius. Soon, Henry’s not only facing the truth about his feelings for Julius, but also risking his life to unmask a social media imposter. “The Other Woman” is manipulating his classmates, searching out their vulnerabilities, and driving them to desperate actions. Julius himself is at risk, what with his callous parents threatening to send him away, and his mental health taking a beating both at school and at home.

If Henry’s going to save the day and get the boy of his dreams, he’ll have to stop worrying what everyone thinks and stop pretending to be someone he’s not. Most of all, Henry will have to be honest about who he loves.

About Daisy Harris

Born into the psychedelic wonder that was the seventies, Daisy Harris has had an interesting life so far. She's been to Catholic school and Ramones concerts, danced to MC Hammer and Flo Rida, made the honor roll and Phi Beta Kappa, survived cholera, faced bed bugs, and she’s been a hair's breadth from shipwreck twice. (Three times, if you count sea kayaks!)

Daisy has been a lifelong reader, devouring romance, young adult, urban fantasy, and nonfiction alike. In her professional life, she’s written medical copy and edited scientific papers. However, since 2012, she’s devoted her energy to writing gay romance full-time. That’s okay, because now on the weekends she reads medical studies for fun.

As far as Daisy's concerned, the best things in life happen by accident. Though she's gotten better at planning over the years, she still writes, lives, and plays by the seat of her pants. Her books are a happy mix of mysteries, romantic comedies, and coming-of-age stories, more often than not inspired by the great films of the 1980s.

Daisy lives in Seattle in a house full of dogs and children. When she's not writing gay fiction, she can be found riding her exercise bike and testing the outer boundaries of her food processor’s potential. Every once in a while, she goes out to pay homage to the party gods of her youth—and maybe to find a little trouble.

Of Love and Corn Dogs by Parker Williams

Of Love and Corn Dogs by Parker Williams

With more money than he could spend in ten lifetimes, Darwin Kincade still couldn't keep death from stealing his lover. A little older and a whole lot wiser, flirting with his twice-a-week waiter is the perfect no-risk substitute for a real relationship. Until the night his routine is upended by the restaurant's newest employee.

Ricky Donnelly loves people. While being a server isn’t his dream, he’s good at it. When a grumpy man is seated in his station, Ricky sees there’s more to him than he lets on, and when the man relaxes, he’s actually sweet.

As the two men bond over a discussion about corn dogs— something Darwin’s never heard of—he realizes how much he’s missed out on in his life. He vows to open himself to new experiences—including, perhaps, a chance at finding love again.
Not wanting anything to muddy their blooming relationship, Darwin hides part of himself from Ricky. He likes the look in Ricky’s eyes, unclouded by Darwin’s notoriety. Unfortunately, the truth can never stay hidden, and when it comes out, Darwin may lose any hope of holding onto the future they’ve begun to build.

REVIEW

Of Love and Corn Dogs (Of Love and... Book 1)Of Love and Corn Dogs by Parker Williams
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

It's rare to read a book about a billionaire that's actually sweet. That's what you get with this book, and I think the title helps in that regard. If you're looking for a sticky sweet read, this is your book.

Darwin, CEO and owner of his own company, has been stagnant in the love department since his "husband" passed away 6 years ago, burying himself in work.

He started going to this restaurant because one of the waiters caught his eye, but seeing as how the waiter never showed any interest, he never made a move. On a particular day he went in and got a new waiter, and everything changed for him.

Coming off as rude he decides he wants to apologize to this new waiter, Ricky, and does something super sweet for him. Which in turn gets him a quasi-date and then a real date. Things move quickly for these two. I liked how Ricky brought out the playfulness in Darwin. Having been somewhat sheltered by his parents, he never got to enjoy "normal" things, such as junk food. Which he finds he's rather quite fond of after a suggestion from Ricky.

Darwin finally has the guts to tell Ricky who he is. Ricky is so unsure about all this. Being from two different worlds he's uncomfortable and doesn't feel he lives up to what he "thinks" Darwin's expectations are. Thus causing a rift between the two.
After seeing this side of Darwin, it was a little heartbreaking that Ricky could just dismiss it all so easily, well it wasn't necessarily easy, but he didn't seem to put a lot of thought into it.

I don't want to give much more of the story away, but just know that there is an HEA, for a lot of characters involved.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Happily Ever After Comes With A Pricetag Parker Williams began to write as a teen, but never showed his work to anyone. As he grew older, he drifted away from writing, but his love of the written word moved him to reading. A chance encounter with an author changed the course of his life as she encouraged him to never give up on a dream. With the help of some amazing friends, he rediscovered the joy of writing, thanks to a community of writers who have become his family. Parker firmly believes in love, but is also of the opinion that anything worth having requires work and sacrifice (plus a little hurt and angst, too). The course of love is never a smooth one, and Happily Ever After always has a price tag.

Virtual Blog Tour & Giveaway ~ Can't Hide From Me by Cordelia Kingsbridge

Hi! I’m Cordelia Kingsbridge, and I’m pleased to welcome you to the blog tour for my novel Can’t Hide From Me. Thanks so much for checking it out!

About Can’t Hide From Me

Charles Hunter’s team is on a mission to extract an unidentified ATF agent from an undercover job gone wrong. All they’ve got to go on is the rendezvous location—until Charles recognizes the ex he hasn’t seen in years. Their “simple rescue mission” is about to get a lot more complicated.

For Ángel Medina, adjusting to life after his cartel nightmare is hard enough without confronting memories of a failed relationship. All he wants is a fresh start. But when a violent stalker lashes out from the shadows, Ángel realizes his nightmare is far from over.

As the stalker’s obsession escalates and bodies start dropping, Charles and Ángel are thrown together in a desperate search for the culprit. Tempers flare and old passions reignite, drawing them back into the same turbulent relationship that once ended in disaster.

But the stalker isn’t letting go—and the next strike might hit straight through the heart.

Available from Riptide Publishing: http://riptidepublishing.com/titles/cant-hide-from-me

Angel and Charles have an odd relationship. There's a lot of fighting and fucking. It's all very "angry passionate". From the beginning Angel has always tried to get a rise out of Charles, but always in a playful, foreplay, kind of way. This time around it's much more "muchier" ;)

There is definitely some built up anger issues with each other over the last two years and that's how it comes out. It's very carnal and angry and off the chain hot. Then it turns to guilt and becomes a vicious cycle.

Add to this the fact they had to extract Angel from a bad mission and now having a Stalker, he can't seem to catch a break.

I will admit,, I kind of saw it coming, but was still a little shocked anyway as to the who. The why of the stalking is also a little different then what I've read before. Not quite Stephen King's Misery, but almost. It was very intense and fast paced and I enjoyed every moment of it.

AUTHOR BIO:

I am a native Houstonian, with a deep love of Texas, especially our gorgeous Hill Country.  I am mother to five awesome children who, like their mom, are all weird and quite possibly a little bit nutty.  I attended the University of Houston and have BA in Business Administration. By day I am a Treasury Analyst in the Oil & Gas industry but by night, I let my inner freak-flag fly.
I have always been an avid reader.  I distinctly remember begging my poor mother to paint my room lavender so that it would coordinate with my Harlequin romance novel collection that had taken over my room.  My love of romance has evolved over the years to a passion for darker, more dangerous love that is hard fought.  After stumbling upon my first M/M novel I was blown away and from then on I was hooked.  My love of hot, sexy men aside, I love to read - and now write - stories with rough, sexy alpha males that struggle to find their HEA. My stories can be sparked by a name I hear, a delicious recipe I see, or even the lyrics of a song that move me.  I will hear it or see it and a complete character pops into my brain demanding that I write their story.
