Being a new member of the undead sect has its ups and downs, something that newly embraced Akio Lee is finding out first hand. Being able to spend eternity with his beloved Vincente, the man who introduced him to life in the nightside, is a definite up. Having to feed on strangers? That’s one of the downsides, and something that Akio is finding difficult to swallow. But what other option is there for a recently wed vampire couple who need blood to survive?

Finding a new donor perhaps? One who comes into the lifestyle willingly, as Akio had done, and is open to the unique and sensual relationship that develops when three men have a blood bond. A man who can exist in both the nightside and the dayside worlds. A man like Ian O’Keeffe, the handsome caretaker of the manse Akio and Vincente now call home? Ian seems to tick every box Akio and Vincente have—he’s comfortable around vampires, he’s obviously into men, he’s drop-dead gorgeous, he’s more than a little mischievous, and he’s human. Mostly.

But will the outgoing handyman be willing to offer two vampires his vein, his body, and his heart?

Reviewed by Elise:

Oh how I have missed my Erie gang!!!!  Nightside pics up after the last book in the Erie Shifters series, An Erie Garden Party where Akio was changed, or “embraced”, into a vampire himself. Sidenote: I like how VL puts a little bit of a different spin on the world of vampires, they are embraced, not changed, there is no licking the wounds closed, and the explanation of why they sleep on the dirt.
Akio and Vincente have decided that the time has come to move out of Lupei Manor and into a manse of their own. After finding the perfect home they got an extra added bonus of of a hot and sexy caretaker, Ian. Oh how I loved the chemistry of these three.  And good Lord I thought just Akio and Vincente were hot...whew!!
There is a bit of a mystery about and as always a lot of humor. As with some of her previous books a lessons of love and acceptance as well.
Do I think you need to read the entire series to just read this book ...eh you maybe a little lost with some of the characters, but you might be fine. However i can not stress enough how much you SHOULD read this series because it's just fun and fabulous!!! I mean how could you NOT want to read about a skunk shifter???

I give this book 4 stars.

V.L. Locey loves worn jeans, yoga, belly laughs, Dr. Who, Torchwood, walking, reading and writing lusty tales, Greek mythology, the New York Rangers, comic books, and coffee. Release Day! The Dragon's CEO Assistant by Jenn Burke

The Dragon CEO's Assistant by Jenn Burke

Series: Golden Kingdom #2
Release Date: October 29, 2019
Subgenre: LGBTQ+ Paranormal Romance

Order here:

Synopsis for The Dragon CEO's Assistant:

The heart remembers.

When Aidan Bishop staggers out of the woods, naked and suffering from amnesia, he needs to relearn who he is and where he fits in the world.

His boss, nearly five-hundred-year-old dragon Nassim, head of a successful tech company, hurries to claim his wayward assistant and guide him back into the life he disappeared from. As they get to know each other again, Aidan wonders if their relationship went deeper than employer and employee. But Nassim isn’t telling, and Aidan has a secret of his own… even if he doesn’t know it yet.

Release Blitz Teaser:

“What can I do for you, detective?” he asked as he settled into one of the chairs.

Morgan chose the seat at the head of the table.“Sorry to bother you at work, Mr. Bishop, but I had a few additional questions.”

“I thought you closed my case.”

Morgan smiled crookedly. “Officially it is. But I have a problem letting go of cases with unanswered questions.”

Aidan returned his smile and relaxed a little. “I can understand that. I appreciate you continuing to look into it. How can I help you?”

“Have you remembered anything else?”

Aidan’s smile faltered. “No.”

“That sucks.”

The blunt statement startled a laugh out of Aidan. “To put it mildly.”

“Then I don’t suppose you know why your employment history might have some discrepancies?”

“What in my what?”

“Discrepancies. In your employment history.” Morgan flipped to a spot in his notepad and pulled out a folded sheet of paper, which he smoothed open and placed on the table. Aidan couldn’t read it from where he was sitting, but it looked like a résumé.

His résumé.

All of the tension he’d let go raced back into his shoulders. “Where did you get that?”

The crooked smile widened. “I’m a cop.”

But had his résumé been a part of the materials for the investigation into Aidan’s disappearance?

“So see here? It says you worked for the law firm Bartholomew and Beaudoin last year. Except according to public record, they moved the firm out west to Winnipeg the year before.”

Morgan could have been speaking a different language for all the sense that sentence made to Aidan. “I don’t understand.”

Morgan picked up Aidan’s résumé and frowned at it. “Maybe the date was written down wrong.”

“That has to be it. Why would I lie about my employment history?”

Morgan shrugged and folded the paper again. “To get this job.”

Excerpt :

He pulled the computer onto his lap, lifted the lid, and pressed the power key.

Wonder of wonders, it had no password.

“Bad Past-Aidan,” he muttered. “But thank you.”

Getting into his mail was no problem. As he waited for it to load, he couldn’t help the wriggle of excitement. Maybe there’d be an email from the friend he met on Monday after work. A clue. Something to give him a hint.

His inbox was empty. So was his sent folder and his trash too. There was a single message in his spam, but even without his memory, he wasn’t dumb enough to think he was related to a Nigerian prince. He deleted it and closed the application.

He opened the internet browser. It had no bookmarks, no social media, no favorite sites. That was weird, right? People used bookmarks. He went into the browser’s history.

Aidan tilted his head to the side as he regarded the explicit picture he’d apparently viewed sometime recently. He could see all the different parts of the two men, but he wasn’t sure what belonged to whom. Shaking his head, he selected the next entry in the history, an article on a local newspaper’s site that talked about Tuninas Software’s latest acquisition. The details didn’t really mean much to Aidan, though he noted Nassim’s name appeared more than once.

The next entry in the history was porn again, this time a GIF. If the description on the web page was anything to go by, it was a GIF featuring a dragon pounding his massive erection into another guy’s ass. The bottom didn’t look like he minded one minute, and the dragon…

Looked kind of like Nassim.

It wasn’t, but the surface similarities were there—bronze skin, dark hair, intense eyes that flared with dragonfire. Sweat poured down the bottom’s face, and Aidan wondered if that was from exertion or the body temperature of the being behind him.

Whatever. The entire scenario was hot as fuck—the dazed, amazed, overwhelmed expression on the bottom’s face, the possessive glower on the dragon’s.

Well…that answered one thing. His attraction to Nassim was not new.

But that raised other questions, like why hadn’t he pursued anything before? Was it the boss-assistant thing? Probably. It was an imbalanced dynamic, and his current situation had made the power gap worse.

He should not be thinking about Nassim like this. No matter how badly he wanted to be in the bottom’s position, taking those powerful thrusts from a powerful creature. Aidan’s dick perked up at the thought. He needed to close the browser, and not watch it again.

But the dragon just kept going and going…

“Everything okay?”

Aidan slammed the laptop closed. “Yep!”

“You’re flushed.”

Oh shit. What if Nassim could smell arousal? Were dragons’ senses that sharp? “It’s, uh…kind of emotional. You know?”

“Sure.” Nassim’s face was mostly blank, and Aidan didn’t know what that meant. Did he know that Aidan’s dick was hard as a rock under the laptop or not?

Not. Please not.

Psychic Men (HUNT&CAM4EVER #4) by Adira August feat. a NSFW Excerpt ;)

Length: 308 pages

Hunt&Cam4Ever Series: Amazon US | Amazon UK

Blurb

Knowing what's coming doesn't mean you can stop it.

Life's become routine for Hunt and Cam—solving murders, hanging at the club and expressing their affection for one another. Vigorously. Then a skinny kid barely into his teens sought them out.

"I saw my father last night," Asher Gamble told Hunter. "He said Jason Furney's going to die and people will say I did it."

Hunt frowned. The boy's name seemed familiar. "Tell me the rest of it."

Asher locked his gaze on Hunt's as intractably as Cam ever had.

"My father killed my mother and my brother when I was two years old. He died in prison four years ago."

So much for routine.

***

A 60k word police procedural designed to be read stand-lone. The 4th book in the Hunt&Cam4Ever series which begins with Matchstick Men. For adult lovers of murder mysteries and apple pie for breakfast.

Author’s Note:

Psychic Men is fact-based like the other Hunter Dane Investigations in the Hunt&Cam4Ever series which starts with Matchstick Men. I’ve used my artistic license to sculpt real things into a story I made up. The murder is fiction. The psychism is not. Se Appendix for links.

Really hoping they don’t revoke the license.

NSFW Excerpt: A Hunt&Cam Breakfast special.

“I HAD A CALL WHILE you were running,” Cam settled on a counter stool while Hunter cleaned up after breakfast. “You know David Morganfeld?”

“The classical pianist? Not personally, but yeah, he lives in the glass and metal monstrosity a couple miles along the track,” Hunter said, bringing a jar of salve with him and taking the stool next to Cam’s. “You taking off your pants, or am I doing it?” He ran a finger over the bulge of Cam’s cock under the fabric. “And how would you like me to do it?”

Every morning that Hunt stayed at Cam’s, which was most nights, he put a healing ointment on Cam’s left thigh. The salve treated the scars left by bullets and surgery and the external fixators that had been screwed into his shattered femur.

Even after four months, it was rare that they got through the process without orgasms. At first, the feeling of Hunt’s fingers on the scars had been unpleasant. Not painful, according to Cam, but weirdly nauseating. But it had to be done, to keep the scars from hardening, and over time, to fade.

They’d been on the massage table in Cam’s birch-paneled bathroom that first time. So Hunter had used the most expedient distraction available: he’d taken Cam’s limp dick into his mouth. It didn’t stay soft for long. Hunter’s tongue and lips worked his Dom’s cock while his fingers worked the salve over the scars.

Cam had lain back, not chasing his orgasm until Hunter treated the last of the scars and wrapped his strong arms around Cam’s hips, pulling him tight to himself, deep-throating him.

It had become their morning ritual, and they were quite creative about varying the location and form of sex play. The scars had smoothed and flattened without hardening, and the feeling of Hunt’s fingers no longer bothered Cam. But it was still, they agreed, a fine way to start their day.

Note from We Three Queens
Hunt & Cam just get better and better with every story told about them.
The relationship and their understanding and maturity towards and of each other, the mysteries they're involved in and the intelligence displayed. It all just grows and ascends and almost becomes a part of you, the readers.

If you haven't checked out this series, I highly suggest you should.
While this story CAN be read as a standalone, ask yourself, "Why would I want to skip anything to do with Hunt & Cam?" :)

I don't write the fantasy HEA. But there are such things as commitments kept, caring unreservedly for another, and never giving up. Which means everything is a love story. Murder investigations included.

My characters and their stories are everything. Hunt and Cam, Ben and Avia, Mike and Cal are vibrant, passionate people. So there tends to be a lot of sex. And they are as real to me as my readers are.

Spotlight. Guest Post. & GIVEAWAY!! -Dancing with the Lion:Book 2: Rise by Jeanne Reames

About Dancing with the Lion: Rise

The story of Alexander before he became “the Great.”

Finished with schooling, Alexandros is appointed regent of Makedon while his father is away on campaign. He thrives with his new authority—this is the role he was born for—yet it creates conflict with his mother and Hephaistion. And when his soldiers, whom he leads with unexpected skill, start to call him “The Little King,” his father is less than delighted.

Tensions escalate between Alexandros and his father, and between Makedon and the city-states of southern Greece. As the drums of war sound, king and crown prince quarrel during their march to meet the Greeks in combat. Among other things, his father wants to know he can produce heirs, and thinks he should take a mistress, an idea Alexandros resists.

After the south is pacified, friction remains between Alexandros and the king. Hostilities explode at festivities for his father’s latest wedding, forcing Alexandros to flee in the middle of the night with his mother and Hephaistion. The rigors of exile strain his relationships, but the path to the throne will be his biggest challenge yet: a face-off for power between the talented young cub and the seasoned old lion.

About the Series

Alexandros is expected to command, not to crave the warmth of friendship with an equal. In a kingdom where his shrewd mother and sister are deemed inferior for their sex, and his love for Hephaistion could be seen as submission to an older boy, Alexandros longs to be a human being when everyone but Hephaistion just wants him to be a king.

Clothing and Hairstyles in ancient Macedonia

Ancient Greek and Macedonian clothing was relatively simple, in terms of not requiring much stitching. It usually amounted to a large, rectangular piece of cloth that was then folded, pinned, and tied in various ways.
Women wore one of two primary garmets: the peplos (both left below) or the khiton (sometimes chiton, both right below, Ionic-style). The choice was more regional than one of personal preference. In Macedonia, most women would wear the peplos. A peplos was secured by long pins (with protective endpiece) while the khiton was secured by fibulai, which amounted to safety pins (bee fibula, above left).

For men, there’s just the khiton really, either shorter (above knees, below left, Macedonian) or longer (mid-calf). In Macedonia, men may also have worn a long-sleeved version (below right).

Greeks also had “outer-wear.” First, the himation (not to be confused with a toga). It could be worn over a long men’s khiton, or alone (as below left); it’s sort of the ancient Greek version of a suit, more formal than a khiton. Women also wore the himation, especially outdoors. When raised over her head (below right), it was called “Aphrodite’s tortoise,” as she symbolically carried her “house” on her body (concealing her from the gaze of non-familial males).

Men might also wear a short cloak outdoors, the khlamys, especially associated with soldiers and men traveling . See the hunters below; the one on the left is identified as Alexander himself. And no, nobody really hunted naked; that’s “heroizing.” Notice also Alexander’s hat. That’s the petasos, a floppy, straw sunhat worn against the unforgiving solar glare of Greece.

Sandals came in a wide variety; there was even a “sandal boot” common to cavalrymen, et al. (See top left image below, or statue of man’s short khiton up above.) Additional sandal styles:

Finally, hair. Most of the men in the novel wear their hair short, following a style borrowed from soldiers and athletes. But Hephaistion wears his long, after a fashion among boys in Athens (see image on the pot below), but also among young men and even adults of the Archaic Age. I present you with … the ancient Greek mullet!

Despite what comic-book films would have you believe, fighting with long hair down may look lucious, but is pretty much impossible if you want to be able to see (and so, stay alive)—why most militaries insist that women (or men) with long hair keep it up. So also in ancient Greece. Hephaistion is described as wearing it braided in a crown around his head. Costume designer Ann Patricia demonstrates how that might work:
As for women’s styles, these varied a great deal. I’d like to point to the experimental archaeology of Janet Stephens, who pursues her love of figuring out hair designs in ancient statuary. Most of her work is not Greek, but of particular interest might be the Classical Greek chigon and Aphrodite’s Knot. Finally, the Sakkos, which Kleopatra is described as wearing once she’s old enough to be married off. The last video explains how ancient hair nets were made, and demonstrates weaving techniques on a small scale, for those interested. She then shows how to put the sakkos on the hair. (The model, incidentally, is wearing a peplos.)

About Jeanne Reames

Jeanne Reames has been scribbling fiction since 6th grade, when her “write a sentence with this vocabulary word” turned into paragraphs, then into stories…and her teacher let her get away with it—even encouraged her! But she wears a few other hats, too, including history professor, graduate program chair, and director of the Ancient Mediterranean Studies Program at her university. She’s written academic articles about Alexander and ancient Macedonia, and does her best to interest undergrads in Greek history by teaching them (et al.) to swear in ancient Greek.

Sometimes it's the cop who needs to hit the floor...

Haunted by the worst case of my career, I knew only one way to exorcise the images from my mind, the victim from my soul ...

Inside the club, I scanned the room. He was here—Camden Snow—a sex god in the guise of unpretentious youth. Only his ice-blue eyes gave evidence of the Dom who took whomever he wished, whatever way he wanted, with a look and a nod. Merciless. Cam found me watching him and fixed me with his arctic gaze. This time, I didn't walk away. He cocked an eyebrow.

Well?
The last thing I needed was mercy. I dropped to my knees.

Three days after their explosive first encounter ...

It was munch night at the most elite underground BDSM club in the Rockies...

...relaxed and informal, highlighted by the weekly Matchstick Challenge game. Detective Sergeant Hunter Dane, reigning champion, looked forward to a relaxing evening to start his 3 days off. A few beers on the deck. A sexy interlude. Stumping a challenger with a new puzzle. Home early for a decent night's sleep.

But some people are so deadly serious about their games.

Now Hunt has a fresh body and a new puzzle to solve in twenty-four hours if he wants to find a killer.

And Dom Camden Snow comes along to help with a few games of his own in mind. Sherlock and John were never like this!

The complete text of the original novella On His Knees, the Hunt&Cam origin story, comprises Part One of this novel. Other books of this series, starting with Dancing Men, are available now exclusively on Amazon.
